Leave Me Alone

Posted by admin on Jan 9, 2010 in Uncategorized |

Morning.

I have a stinking cold and so my day has been thrown into disarray. Actually, it’s not been that thrown, but the nice lunch I was looking forward to with friends has been cancelled and that has made me sad. Instead, I shall stay in and learn how to conjugate Greek verbs. Wahoo.

I’m sat in the spare room (which I laughingly call The Office) and listening to Danny Baker’s Football Show on Five Live. As you know, I am not really a football fan yes somehow, Lord Baker manages to make it seem like a fun past time. I’m not sure how he does it. I surprised someone yesterday by telling them I love FIFA10 but don’t like watching real football. He was gobsmacked. Is that so odd?

This week I have had a woman on Facebook calling me a racist because I didn’t reply immediately to her response to unfriend one of my ‘friends’ on FB because he was a member of the BNP and other nasty racist organisations. Now, if you have messaged me on FB you will probably know that I very rarely get back in touch. Sometimes I do, but more often than not I simply can’t be bothered. I have a life and surprisingly, social networking sites, while useful, are NOT high priorities in my life. Especially when I have had a week that has involved spending more time than is healthy in hospital with a loved one.

Anyway, this woman, let’s call her Terri McDonald to protect her identity (although her real name is Lori) won’t take the hint and has got increasingly arsey with me - partly because I didn’t reply and Danny Wallace did within an hour. Woo. Well done Danny, good lad! (I know Danny and love him, so please don’t take that last sentence as a dig at the mighty Mr.Wallace. He owns a country for God’s sake)

Sadly, I have deleted Lori’s sanctimonious messages, which is a shame, I would love to have shared them with you. It does annoy me when, simply because I have not replied to someone on a site for teenage girls, I am called a racist. Very arrogant and naughty.

Right, rant over. It’s a beautiful day. Greek to do then a bit of FIFA and a bit more of Lost season 5. Wonderful.

Have fun.

You should actually come to a game, it’s a good craic. You should go to a proper club like QPR

You should take your games controller and imagine your controlling the players, make sure you go in the away end and cheer when you make the home team score.

Funny things social networking sites, e.g. I tweet random well-known people all the time and rarely get a response, nice when I do, but I certainly wouldn’t start being abusive if people didn’t respond - at the end of the day they don’t know me, I know who they are and maybe like and admire them - doesn’t make us bessie buddies though does it? Anyhow - if you did unfriend someone for being a member of BNP - wouldn’t that be censorship, not that I agree with them, but there is such thing as freedom of speech and we do live in a democracy.

Yep - Agree, get thee to a game, the atmosphere will sweep you along… small ground is just as exciting as one of the big premier grounds.
